Mine Planning and Permitting – Georgia

Houston American Cement, Groundwater and Reserve Assessment and Mine Plan Review, Clinchfield, Georgia. H2H staff prepared the ground water and surface water assessment as part of the initial application for the 2,000 acre proposed cement quarry in central Georgia. H2H prepared the reserve assessment for the 3,000 acre facility. The assessment involved the installation, testing and monitoring of numerous surface water and groundwater monitoring points over an 18 month period. H2H also provided input into the management of surface water and groundwater as part of the ongoing operational plan for the site. The hydrogeologic report was the first competed under the State of Georgia’s’ new guidelines for assessing groundwater impacts associated with mining projects.

“The H2H 3D marine mapping system is allowing us to make more informed decisions about areas that need to be manually inspected. We are in the process of adjusting our standard procedures and workflows to take better advantage of the technology in the future. The system definitely performed as promised,”
